Please feel free to use our clinical guidelines for Emergency Medicine Clinicians.

Cork University Hospital has one of the largest Emergency Departments (ED) in Ireland and has a significant resuscitation workload. It is the only hospital in Ireland with "level 1 trauma" criteria. We have a particular interest in education with active pre-hospital, emergency nursing, undergraduate, NCHD and specialist registrar programmes.

The ED at the Mercy University Hospital specialises in inner-city emergencies and recent acute limb injuries.

Adult patients with minor leg or arm injuries may also attend our Urgent Care Centre at St. Mary's Health Campus, Gurranabraher, or our local injury units at Bantry and Mallow.

Cork Emergency Medicine additionally manages the HSE’s National 24 hour Emergency Tele-Medical Support Unit, Medico Cork.

Our policies were prepared by consultants in emergency medicine: Dr. Íomhar O' Sullivan, Prof. Stephen Cusack, Dr. Chris Luke, Dr. Gemma Kelleher, Dr. Conor Deasy, Dr. Gerry McCarthy, Dr. Kantikiran Dasari, Dr. Eoin Fogarty, Dr. Adrian Murphy, Prof. Ronan O'Sullivan and other clinical staff in Ireland. Please forward comments or suggestions to Íomhar O' Sullivan at Cork University Hospital.
